Abstract: Energetic aspects of replacement the natural gas by alternative fuels (AF) (the process gases, including: coke-oven gas, blast-furnace gas and their mixtures, on the one hand, and different local organic fuels and the products of their gasification, on the other hand) have been discussed. The following values: adiabatic combus-tion temperature TT, specific excess enthalpy ?Ig(T) and exergy ??g(T) of the combustion products by current temperatures and for adiabatic temperature ?Ig,T and ??g,T, – respectively, higher Qh and lower Ql combustion heats, the equilibrium concentration of pollutants – nitrogen oxides [NOx]T and [CO2] as the main greenhouse gas under adiabatic temperature for dry and wet combustion products – make basic power and environmental characteristics of the AF. Comparative analysis of energetic efficiency application of the alternative fuels has been performed using fuel and heat (enthalpy) and serviceability (exergy) efficiencies of the fuel utilization plants.

Keywords: alternative gas (AF), combustion heat, enthalpy, entropy, environmental pollution, equili-brium combustion products, exergy power efficiency, theoretical combustion temperature
