Abstract: The paper deals with the ground storage of the heat resulting from the thermal coversion of the solar energy, with the purpose of using it as a heat source for heat pumps. The heat storage system is of the borehole type, with vertical pipes along which the hot respectively the cold fluid flow alternately. A single tube model is considered for which the unsteady, one-dimension conduction heat transfer across the soil is studied. The implicit finite difference technique is used. On the basis of the temperature field obtained by means of the finite difference technique, the stored respectively the released heat are determined for each moment
